Apparel Technical Designer 1/10/22
As a Technical Designer, you will serve as the in-house expert of your designated
brands. You will have ownership of the fit and construction of all styles
in those brands from tech pack creation to the TOP sample. Because the Product
Development Department is a multiple team network, you will also be
instrumental in facilitating communication between your Design, Sourcing, and
overseas partners to ensure that all fit & construction details are clearly
communicated.
EXPECTATIONS FOR
SUCCESS
· Create
technical specification packages using WebPDM with accurate construction and
measurements for costing and sampling.
· Own
the life cycle of all styles in your category from creation to production,
including processing all PP and TOP samples.
· Utilize
and maintain a library of specs, patterns, and technical drawings for core
brand items.
· Measure,
check construction and prepare FIT samples for fittings
· Assist
in fit sessions with the pattern maker and Designer to ensure styling intent
and fit is being executed accurately.
· Check
all sample’s patterns and make some revisions to basic patterns using Gerber
pattern design.
· Communicate
all fit and construction changes clearly to internal partners and overseas
vendors.
· Meet
all TNA calendar requirements and work "outside of the box" with
manager/ pattern maker to resolve any fit or construction issues that could
affect the approved timelines.
· Conduct
in store visits to learn more about our guests and ensure quality garments are
on the selling floor.
· Research
the market for sizing, quality, and construction techniques to assist with
competitive fit analyses for your designated brands.
· Manage
your workload independently and pivot as the demands of the business change.
KEY
ATTRIBUTES
· Degree
in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience
· 2-3+
years of technical design experience in the apparel industry
· Knowledge
of garment construction and stitch types
· Experience
in pattern making, specifically using Gerber computerized pattern design.
· Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English.
· Proficiency
in Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, WebPDM/ PLM.
